Transitional Meal Prep

The Transitional Meal Team prepared and delivered a favorite meal (Tatertot Casserole and Coleslaw) to fifty residents in transitional housing: Camp Haven, Naomi’s Place, and James Arthur Court on Tuesday, March 24th. The residents generally are formerly homeless, disabled, veterans, low income, and Section 8 individuals in the Vero Beach area.

The meals are prepared by volunteers who plan, cook, shop, and deliver the meals, working once a month (usually the fourth Tuesday of each month) in the UU kitchen. Many thanks also go to the individuals who work on this program outside of the Tuesday preparation time. The volunteers often are the same people but are supplemented by new volunteers who are ready to work when possible. We always welcome and need new volunteers in the group. Please consider working with the Transitional Meals Food Team and volunteering when you can. Contact Eileen Stott Tecza at eileentecza@gmail.com or visit the Transitional Meal table on the second Sunday of each month during the Fellowship/Coffee Hour.

The Transitional Meal Program is supported by the Sharing of Sustenance offering that is collected each second Sunday of the month. The money collection is shared with the UU’s contribution to area food pantries.
