Community outreach is a major aspect of living our UU values and has long been an important aspect of congregational life. Through our SUnday FUnd we reach out to the underserved in our community.  The SUnday FUnd was established in 2010 as “a tangible expression of the Fellowship’s mission to seek justice for all.” Through the SUnday FUnd the Fellowship supports worthy community projects and organizations both financially and by encouraging Fellowship members to volunteer their services.

Each year Fellowship members are urged to nominate local organizations to be supported by the SUnday FUnd. A 5-person committee gathers information about the nominated organizations to determine their viability and worthiness. A Town Hall meeting is held to familiarize the congregation with the nominees.  The committee then selects the recipients for the next year. There are typically 3 or 4 selected.

On selected Sundays throughout the year undesignated cash that is placed in the offering baskets during the Sunday service goes to one of the SUnday FUnd recipients.  On those selected Sundays, we tell about the recipient organization and encourage financial support as well as volunteers.

Since its inception the SUnday FUnd has supported many organizations. These include Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of IRC, Camp Haven, Crossover Mission, Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center, Every Dream Has a Price, Feed the Lambs Enrichment Program, Gifford Community Cultural & Resource Center, Inc., Gifford Youth Activities Center, Gifford Youth Orchestra, Guardians for New Futures, Homeless Family Center, Literacy Services of Indian River County, Rivers Coalition, Safespace, St. Francis Manor, Voices for Children, and Youth Guidance of Indian River County.

For each week these are the organizations we will support during the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year. Click the Buttons below read about each recipient. The full year scheduled is the first button.
