The Transitional Meal Team of UUFVB shopped, cooked, and delivered fifty meals to three location in Vero Beach on Tuesday, April 22th. The resident requirements vary per site. Generally residents are mainly formerly homeless, veterans, low income, Section 8, or disabled. The three sites are Camp Haven (20 group meals), James Arthur Court (20 group meals), and Naomi’s Place (10 meals, individual portions).
The group meals are possible when there is an area in which the residents can gather as a community.
The Meal Team is grateful for this months’ volunteers who delivered, cooked, and shopped for the meals. Please consider signing up to be a volunteer on any month and to be placed on the general volunteer list.
Generally the meal preparation is on the fourth Tuesday of each month, 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the UUFVB kitchen. The next meal preparation date is Tuesday, May 27th. Please contact Eileen Stott Tecza by email at eileentecza@gmail.com for more information and to sign up as a volunteer for this UUFVB community program. In April we had two new members (thank you) in the team of eight who prepared meal loaf, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. Dessert and beverages are also provided when needed.
The Transitional Meals Program is supported by the Sharing of Substance offering that is collected on the second Sunday of each month and shared with UU’s contribution to the Indian River Food Pantry.
