Becoming a UUFVB Member

Membership is an important commitment. As a member, you benefit from the many aspects of the Fellowship, and the Fellowship grows through your commitment. The Membership Committee offers periodic “Introduction to UUFVB” and “Path to Membership” classes for those wanting to learn more. Consider attending one or both of these classes. According to our bylaws, any person 16 or older who aligns with the Fellowship’s purpose can become a member by signing the Membership book and making a recorded financial contribution. After 30 days of membership, members gain voting privileges at congregational meetings. Members also receive UUWorld, a national magazine focused on current issues relevant to Unitarian Universalists.

As Members of UUFVB, we promise to strive: To keep humor, laughter, and joy in all we do. To listen to one another actively and with empathy. To celebrate our differences, remaining open to one another’s point of view.

  1. UU 101: A brief session held on the second Sunday of each month at 11:15 a.m. in Rev. Tom’s office. Open to newcomers, it focuses on Unitarian Universalism basics and getting to know each other.
  2. Journeys: A series of two, two-hour interactive sessions introducing Unitarian Universalism as a lifelong journey, not a fixed set of beliefs. The sessions explore personal spiritual journeys, UUFVB’s history, and our shared congregation journey.
  3. Small Group Ministries: Explore a variety of opportunities for deeper spiritual connection through our classes, workshops, and small groups.
  1. Regular Member: Sole membership at UUFVB
  2. Associate Member:  Primary membership at another UU congregation
  3. Friend: Participate in congregational life without the responsibilities of membership

 Publicly commit to the community as an essential part of your spiritual growth.
Engage through leadership, service, and full participation in the congregation’s life.
Gain the privilege of voting during official Fellowship meetings.

  1. Contribute financially each year, within your means.
  2. Attend worship services regularly.
  3. Maintain positive relationships with members of the community.
  4. Honor and celebrate diversity.
  5. Serve others in the congregation and beyond.
