The War on Truth

Scott writes, “In 2016, the Oxford Dictionary chose the adjective ‘Post-Truth’ as the ‘word of the year’. This was in response to an alarming trend in our society (and in our politics) to ignore objective facts (and science) in favor of emotion, ideology, or personal belief. One does not have to be an elitist or intellectual snob to realize that our society’s social and political discourse (and public policy decision-making ability) has been greatly impaired by a rising tide of ‘post-truth’ thinking that endangers the future health of our nation.
