So What About the Animals? (A Unitarian Universalist Looks at Both his Behaviors and Beliefs)

Humanity as a whole–and the developed world in particular–is not doing a very good job right now protecting the future for the other animal species with which it shares this shrinking planet. Indeed, the decisions our species makes over the coming decades may well determine whether our planet, and almost everything that lives upon it, has an existence worth living. Does Unitarian Universalism have a role to play in humanity finding a more sustainable relationship with our fellow species? This topic may get uncomfortable for many of us, given our entrenched habits of exploiting other creatures for our own needs.
