“The 1619 Project” Workshop
Date(s) - 2020-01-04
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Is what you have been taught about slavery and the history of black Americans accurate? Come to a workshop sponsored by the Fellowship’s Coalition for Racial Justice to learn more about the New York Times “1619 Project.” This Project aims to reframe our country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.
A handout with preparatory readings is available at the Social Justice Information Table. Even if you didn’t attend the November workshop, you are welcome. Andrew Sorbo will facilitate this educational workshop, and refreshments will be available.
Additional workshops will be held on three additional Saturday mornings: Feb. 1, March 7, and April 4.
