The Social Justice Steering Committee and the Coalition for Racial Justice presents the six-episode series from PBS: AFRICA’S GREAT CIVILIZATIONS, narrated by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. .

Andrew Sorbo will facilitate the discussion following each episode which will be shown in the lobby on six consecutive Monday evenings through March 9. You need not attend all of the sessions to appreciate the fascinating history of this lesser known continent.

Dr. Gates explores the history of Africa, from the birth of humankind to the dawn of the 20th century. This is a breathtaking and personal journey through two hundred thousand years of history, from the origins of art, writing, and civilization itself on the African continent through the millennia.
